Congratulations Jill & Tom!
Love this print from Hannah of her daughter’s room. This is an exclusive print I create for Poppins of Mackinac. Look at that adorable heart in the right corner, her daughter wanted to add it before they framed in on the wall. Adorable!
Please share your photos via Instagram #selenaashleydesigns — I’d love to share them!

I sometimes forget that my freedom is dependent on others. That people make sacrifices to be without their family and friends to protect my freedoms. Look at these 2 incredibly adorable faces who have gone over 193 days since seeing their daddy! So happy they have been united and I was so honored to be asked to handle these signs for Maizysue
Make sure to check out Maizysue, her children clothes are adorable!

Stop at your local craft store and add some greenery or purchase some fun shadow boxes with bright paper and Christmas bulbs to fill the base and you have a gorgeous arrangement.
Work in a Progress….
This is still one of my favorite pieces. It was specifically created to match the Flowers from the shower invites. Love the contrast of the bright flowers on the black canvas.
Are you interested in a custom project that matches the decor of your house or bedrooms?
This fun piece was specifically for a little girl’s room.

Lauren really wanted a piece of artwork that displayed her personal quote ‘Believe in your own beauty’ with that we wanted a fun make up inspired wreath that embodied the text.

On Monday, September 25th, I had the pleasure teaching a handlettering class at Creative Remix in Saginaw. My student Amanda was kind enough to share her photos with me.
Included in the class is a fun upper and lower case alphabet, notebook and my favorite lettering pen the Towbow Fudensuke.
First we practice the uppercase, and then I give the option to switch to forming lowercase and start word formations.
Ann wanted to see how I’d lettered ‘Praise the Lord’ as she has a chalkboard she’s itching to handletter.
We also went over making our descenders and ascenders fancy. Different styling for the word “and” as well as different options for connecting “oe” as we get in the Christmas spirit.
If any of my students have questions I like to work with them individually.
Demonstrating some fun alternatives for ‘the’
Work on composition. First, I like to write it out in my traditional handwriting, then I start working on composing the text and mixing up the different styles.
Yes! I created this backdrop for a Peter Pan inspired birthday party for the cutest little twins! “Never Grow Up”is painted in a beautiful shimmery emerald green.

How gorgeous is this 2 year old’s birthday party? I had the honor of creating this watercolor original, “these are a few of my favorite things” in blush with gold lettering.

So so honored by Esha’s sweet comments about my shop!
After college, I immediately started a job in advertising. I started out assisting in leasing, moved onto electronic media, into full time graphic designer and content creator for social media. But, during the first stages of my job I was approached to design a logo for a new gym they were building in town. Which was really scaring, I no longer had my instructor making design suggestions or student input. Now it was real life designing for a client. Although, I look at this logo and know there is room for improvement, I am thankful they trusted me enough to go with my design and continue to use it after all these years. I’m hoping to see it more often as I plan to kick start myself into a healthier routine.
Do you have a custom project that you need handlettered? Please don’t hestitate to ask. This is a surprise Christmas present I’m told for a very serious coffee lover.

This is actually a throwback from a project I did in 2015. A couple of the girls were dealing with bullying and one of the mom’s wanted to create a photoshoot to show them how beautiful they were. We created these tshirts for them. I was not only honored to design the tshirt but also to speak to them to follow their hearts and be themselves.
Each of these globes were created in the bridal colors. The wedding guests were asked to sign the globes vs. using a traditional guestbook.
Have you stopped at Market Fresh Threads located in the City Market? They sell Apparel + Tote Bags with fun farm market sayings! Thank you Laura for trusting me to design your store logo. We wanted a handwritten style to get the more organic feel of the playful theme.

In college I had a professor who would bring in real life clients to help us prepare for a graphic design job. One such client was the Rescue Ministries of Mid Michigan. That year my logo was picked as the winner for the client, you can see it here.
I never really thought about it after leaving college until one day I was walking through the Saginaw mall during Christmas and saw the logo on some Christmas bulbs. I was so excited to see my logo still being used. A few years later we heard about an amazing fundraiser called Race for Rescue with our love a puzzles we would participate every year!
Yes, the face of defeat. We just missed a place.
But, then in 2012, we won the grand prize!
On Monday, September 18th, I ate dinner at the Doubletree Bay City surrounded by the amazing individuals who support this mission everyday. If you are looking for a local organization to volunteer at or donate clothing, please think of this incredible mission. At any given night they can be providing over 200 men, women and children with shelter at City Rescue Mission and Good Samaritan Rescue Mission.
They will forever be grateful for your generosity.
Thank you so much Kendra for these photos from last week! We kept the signage very simple with this Chalkboard and hand lettered frame and a cute congratulations sign.

Are you looking for a cute fall project with your children? Check out this Family Canvas. Your little one can either use their hand prints or finger prints. Below you will find all the materials to create this painting, however, if you’d like me to create one for you and ship to you please click here!
First, you will want to sketch out your tree and your text along the bottom.
I used the Prima Watercolor palette mixing the colors Brown and Chocolate from the Pastel Dreams confections kit, I also incorporated Luna Gold from the Fine Tec kit to add a glitter to the trunk base.
This painting was created with two different colors and two different handprints. Choose your favorite acrylic paint.
The extremely talented Mary from Evie and Jr Photography wanted to surprise her new mom with this quote at their Fresh 48 shoot. She picked the perfect quote for me to watercolor, “even miracles take time.”

Close-up of this hand painted Michigan Pallet. The pallets were perfectly smooth and I loved how they were staggered. I handpainted the Michigan map, text and heart in acrylic paints.
Client photo in the nursery. Love it!
When you can’t find the right font — you handletter it! Had such a great time hand lettering Miss Michigan’s name for this billboard in Port Huron. You did an amazing job at the Miss America Pageant.
I can’t even tell you how excited I am to share this. The incredible Tosha from Tosha Cole Photography has created a local teen magazine and I was honored to be asked to be a contributor. Make sure to check out Tosha and let her know how inspiring and incredible she is.

I was contacted by Tondue Medical Spa to handletter a quote above this beautiful silohette mural created by high school student Abbey Behan
I’ve included progress photos of the Downtown Bay City project.
First, I started out with measuring straight lines and using chalk to outline my text to position how I wanted the draft to look. That way I could easily wash off the chalk instead of leaving behind pencil marks.
I used Folk Art Metallic Arylic Paint in 658 Antique Gold using a thin paintbrush. I lettered all the words once and then repeated a second coat.
The final piece! The final version has a nice gold shimmery coat.
You can watch a short clip here –> IMG_5316
Pretty watercolor for the Spa. Another project included creating this eggplant and gold watercolor. I used Windsor & Newton purples and the finetec gold watercolor palette and a pentel aquabrush.
Handlettered name tags are created from chalkboard plastic tags and handlettered with a fine tip gold oil paint pen.
I have used many different suppliers over the years for my Business Cards and since switching to Moo I absolutely love them. I have tried both Matte and Gloss finishes and these square cards are my absolute favorites. I get a ton of compliments about how pretty they are. Moo also leaves adorable inspiring quotes and stickers in their packaging.
To to be perfectly honest I never would have imagined a few years ago that my artwork would be in the homes of so many people around the world. That I would ship to Australia, or teach a handlettering class in Florida, that my art would announce engagements or congrat new parents to be. But it has and I’m so grateful to the many individuals who have let me be apart of their lives.
Here is a little glimpse into my trip to Mackinac Island
Here is a series of me “geeking” out over all my prints in Poppins as well as meeting the super sweet workers!

The Big Picture Project
I was honored when Karin at the Big Picture Project contacted me to design her t-shirt. Read below where each dollar will go from the sale of the t-shirts.
ABOUT THIS CAMPAIGN
Imagine never owning a photo. We’ve become accustomed to sharing our most treasured moments and possessions in photos, but there are individuals across the world who have never had an opportunity to capture a moment or own a family portrait. Photos are our proof of life – our heirlooms passed down from generation to generation which share the story of our lives.
Now imagine receiving your first family photo. The power that image would have. Imagine how you would treasure it. How much joy would you feel being able to share the one thing you care about most with friends and future generations!?!
The Big Picture Project is collaborating with professional photographers to provide underprivileged individuals and families with their first family photo. By purchasing a T-shirt through this campaign, you will be providing a family with ankeepsake that celebrates all that they have. You’ll provide joy, dignity, hope, memories, unity, and happiness – because our happiness is only real when shared.
There are multiple colors and styles available for purchase.

Thank you to Jordan at Called to Create for featuring me in their Mass Summer Giveaway which included over 50 other Christian artists.

I was sent this travel watercolor set by Rachel of Designs by Rachel Beth and I have to say I was so impressed by her colors. The Chinese Kale was a color I honestly have never found in other watercolor sets – I was looking for this exact color for a big project last year and ended up using a ph Martin teal ink. These tins are around the height of a paper clip and so easy to travel with I love pairing it with my pentel waterbrush and Arches Coldpress watercolor paper. Unfortunately when I received the tin the Chinese Kale had smeared the northern blueberry sample at the top but you’ll be able to check out the color in the Love her print.

Thank you to Half Mile Handmade for including me in their 2017 Social Media Panel for their Maker Mini Session held at Studio 23/The Arts Center in Bay City on April 13, 2017. It was an honor to sit along side Laura Horwath from Ferne Boutique/Albert’s/Market Fresh Threads, Artist Mark Piotrowski, the Digital Mitten guru Jeff DeHaven and Alayna Gentler Partaka.
We had a great time discussing the different platforms that work for each of us. The best time to post, how to engage our followers with behind the scene photos and creating engaging captions. Why is watermarking our work so important and do hashtags really work?
